MailKeep - Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

MailKeep does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. The developer operates no server and receives nothing from the app.

What we collect

Nothing. MailKeep has no accounts of its own, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party SDKs. It contains no advertising identifier and no crash or usage reporting.

Where your mail goes

MailKeep is a client for a mail account you already have. It connects directly from your device to your own mail host over IMAP, SMTP, and that host's administration API, all over TLS. Your messages travel between your device and your mail provider and pass through no system belonging to the developer.

These are the only network destinations the app contacts. It talks to no analytics service, no advertising network, and no avatar or image service.

Credentials

The account email and API key you enter are stored in the iOS Keychain on that device only, marked so that they are never included in an iCloud backup and never restored onto another device. They are sent only to your own mail host, to sign in. The developer never sees them.

When you connect a mailbox, MailKeep asks your mail host to create an application-specific credential for that mailbox and keeps it in the same Keychain. Your mailbox's own password is never read and never changed.

Data stored on your device

Recently fetched message summaries and message bodies are cached on your device so a mailbox opens without waiting. This cache is stored in the app's private Application Support directory, is excluded from iCloud backups, and is bounded in size. Deleting the app removes it, along with every stored credential.

Notifications

Notifications are generated on your device. MailKeep uses no push service and no push token, so nothing about your mail is sent anywhere in order to notify you.

Sample data

The sample inbox available on the first screen is fabricated content held in memory. Using it makes no network request of any kind.

Children

MailKeep is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date.
