In a previous essay, I spent time writing about how hacker culture has moved from curiosity to monetisation and credentialism. I am not entirely happy with the essay, and want to take two different routes here: Modern technology is impeding productivity, and modern technology is manipulative and turning our world into consumerist individualists. The draft
